CLPA ก่อตั้งขึ้นในเดือนพฤศจิกายน ค.ศ. 2000 ภายใต้คำขวัญที่ว่า “CC-Link เป็นเครือข่ายเขตข้อมูลแบบเปิด จะกลายเป็นมาตรฐานที่ใช้กันโดยทั่วไปของโลก” นับแต่นั้นเป็นต้นมา คณะกรรมการ คณะทำงานเฉพาะกิจด้านการตลาด และคณะทำงานเฉพาะกิจด้านเทคนิคได้ผนึกกำลังเพื่อช่วยให้ผู้ผลิตสามารถพัฒนาผลิตภัณฑ์ที่ใช้งานร่วมกันได้ และช่วยให้ผู้ใช้สร้างระบบ FA ได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ
